3 Ways to Become a Standout Fashion Blogger

Being a fashion blogger looks fun. You get to wear great outfits. Companies flower you with gifts and sponsorships. You become the envy of like-minded people everywhere. But the life of a fashion blogger isn’t all kicks and giggles. There is a lot of work going on behind the scenes to bring followers the content they crave.

I’ve worked with several fashion bloggers, and there are a few secrets to the ones who become the most successful.

  1. Have a Great Attitude
Great-looking people might get gigs easily at first, but if they are tough to interact with their success won’t last long. Fashion bloggers who stay humble and positive get asked back again and again. No one wants to work with a jerk. Unless you’re a jerk who already has millions of followers – and even that won’t last forever.

  2. Be Grateful
Many fashion bloggers are accustomed to getting things for free. Brands want access to their audiences, so they’re willing to part with items in exchange for publicity. Budding photographers often look to collaborate with bloggers and provide photo shoots and photos for free to gain experience and build their portfolio. Those who appreciate these symbiotic relationships will make friends for life.

  3. Put in the Work
The best fashion bloggers know their brands, their audience, and their styles because they’ve done their homework. They’ve checked their analytics, scrutinized each image, curated their Instagram feeds, and churned out new content day in and day out. Doing this isn’t easy. Maintaining the effort over the long-term is even harder. If you want to make it big in this space, you’ve got to be willing to put in the work.

Standout fashion and beauty blogger Zhenya Hutson of Being Zhenya excels at doing these things and more. I got the chance to capture a few different looks with her in-studio recently, and here’s a small sampling of what we came up with.

This is the most fun I’ve ever had at a photo shoot.
